Managers of the project on creation of the KAMAZ robotic vehiclevisited Skolkovo

Nazarbayev University in partnership with VIST Group (Russia, Tsifra Group of Companies) participated in the Skolkovo Robotics 2019 forum for the first time in April of this year.

Project managers for the creation of a robotic vehicle based on a KAMAZ Neo project Senior Researcher at National Laboratory Astana Zhandos Yessenbayev and Associate Professor of Robotics and Mechatronics of the Nazarbayev University Almas Shintemirov acted on behalf of the Nazarbayev University. The Kazakhstan side arrived on this forum at the invitation of Russian partners.

In the frame of the panel session "Robotic Mining Enterprise: Trends, Challenges and Ways to Overcome Them" presentation on the main requirements for the development of unmanned cargo transport for logistics operations in the mining industry has been made and presented the current results of the project, including the process developing a computer vision module for a robotic vehicle based on the KAMAZ 5490 Neo chassis.

During the visit to the forum events the current status of research and development in the field of robotics of Russian civil companies and universities was studied. In addition to the Skolkovo Technopark, Kazakhstan scientists visited the office and laboratories of the VIST Robotics, the division of VIST Group, which developing and implementing unmanned trucks in the mining industry, where the current results and future plans for the project were discussed in more detail.

According to Senior Research Officer at National Laboratory Astana Zhandos Yessenbayev, a visit to Skolkovo Robotics is a unique opportunity for Kazakh-Russian cooperation to show results and exchange experience with colleagues from other countries at the Skolkovo Robotics site, a key robotic forum of Eastern Europe for the industry.
